The growing demand for energy and diminishing, non-renewable, natural resources have focused the attention of investors on environmental protection and energy saving. The construction industry in particular is determined to move towards sustainability in its design choices, and is placing great emphasis on long term consumption control and energy saving.
FAR Systems is developing intelligent energy control systems to assist the construction industry, and has the ambition to provide energy management experts with the information they need to evaluate how best to reduce a building’s energy consumption and running costs.
The T-BEST system will soon be able to:
• acquire, log and analyse consumption data from electrical and heating systems, as well as air quality parameters and water usage
• measure and monitor a building’s energy efficiency in real time, identify a range of alarm conditions and manage them effectively using dedicated personnel availability lists
• provide innovative tools for evaluating potential modifications to a building and its systems in order to achieve significant energy savings
• share information with existing building automation systems.
The T-BEST system will also comply with the requirements of the LEED protocol (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). This green building rating system is of great interest not only in the phases of structure and system design but in subsequent project management and verification phases too. LEED procedures help maintain sustainability over time through system monitoring and intelligent management.
